Training Grants

General Fund Training Grant: Provides training grants, ranging from $2,000 to $250,000 (under some circumstances up to $1 million) to employers, employer groups and labor organizations.

MWCC’s Value-Added Offerings (which other trainers do not):

  • Free Grant Writing Assistance - MWCC helps companies with every step of the grant submission process, waiving our 20% grant writing fee in exchange for MWCC contracting all resultant training.

  • Free Training Needs Assessment - MWCC conducts a formal training needs assessment, waiving our training needs assessment fee (a $3,500 per day value), in exchange for MWCC contracting all resultant training.
  • Free Training Plan Design - With the help of MWCC’s experienced Training Managers, applicants are able to design and develop training based on specific, local company need.
  • Free Grant Administration - Grant recipients are required by the WTF to maintain rosters, registrations, and training evaluations, and submit supporting documentation that is sufficient to determine that the training is being conducted as approved. While other companies charge as much as 25% to provide this service, MWCC waives our grant administration fee, in exchange for MWCC administering all training which results from our grant writing assistance.
  • Trainer Choice Options - Applicants may use MWCC’s experienced, industry recognized trainers or a preferred training provider with whom the company has a pre-existing training relationship. Other training providers limit the choice to their internal training pool, and/or often charge your company an additional fee to use outside trainers.
  • Preferred Trainer Status - Proud of our approval rating, in excess of 94%, a major mission of the community college is to train the workforce. With 45 years as a workforce training provider, MWCC is recognized by the Workforce Training Fund as a preferred trainer.

How the Application Process Works: MWCC assists your company in completing a training needs assessment to help prioritize your needs (see a free sample here). We also offer grant writing assistance in completing the final application for submission. Applications are then reviewed over the next 60 days by Workforce Training Fund for a final decision.

Eligibility: All employers who contribute to the Workforce Training Fund through their participation in the Commonwealth’s Unemployment Insurance program through the Division of Unemployment Assistance are eligible to apply for a WTF grant.

Additional Information: Grant recipients must be up to date with their payments to Unemployment Insurance and must provide a certified copy of a certificate in good standing from the Department of Revenue prior to the receipt of grant funds.
