The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act provides
funding for the Career & Technical Education program at Mount Wachusett
Community College. Students enrolled in occupational programs, such as
Computer Information Systems, Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Auto
Technology, Early Childhood Education, and Human Services, etc., are offered
career, resume writing, and job search information, academic and personal
counseling, and tutoring services to assist in setting and reaching individual
goals.
Focus is placed on assisting students with decisions regarding career
choice, transfer options, and job placement while meeting the rigorous
academic standards in all of their courses. Career & Technical Education
staff encourage students to "dare to be different" by enrolling
in programs that lead to careers that are Non-Traditional for either gender.
The creativity of the C&TE staff enables students to be exposed to
life-enhancing experiences both on and off campus. Students who are in
Career & Technical Education programs are automatically entitled to
the services of the C&TE staff.
Career & Technical Education students are prepared to enter the workforce
after the completion of a one-year certificate or a two-year degree program.
Photos of C&TE students, busy at work in their classrooms and labs,
are on display on the Non-Traditional Careers bulletin board across from
the MWCC bookstore. For more information regarding Career & Technical
Education, call (978) 630-9288.
