5. Field Experience

MWCC students, once you have decided on a college or training program, inquire into:

  • Job Shadowing
  • Co-operative Education
  • Service Learning

Job Shadowing has helped students to explore, solidify, or rethink their career goals. It is the beginning of a networking process and offers experience to highlight on a resume or in a portfolio. For further information regarding Job Shadowing, contact Elaine Murray at 978-630-9116, or stop by her office in room 145. Email: Elaine Murray

Co-operative Education is a partnership between education and industry offering meaningful work experience prior to graduation. It is an opportunity to obtain paid employment in your specific field of study, while earning academic credit. Co-op can be substituted in most programs for a general and /or career elective and is worth three credits. For further information contact Patricia Brewerton Career Placement Counselor at 978-630-9254. Office # 142. Email: Patricia_Brewerton

Service Learning is a teaching method which includes community service activity as part of the learning experience. Service learning engages students in service within the community as an integrated aspect of their course to gain a better understanding of course content and enhanced sense of civic responsibility. For more information on how to get involved in this program please contact Dr. John Fielding at extension 295 or Dr. Melissa Fama at extension 288.
