Who we are and what we do
The Academic Support Center, located
in room 116, is committed to providing students with the assistance
they need to fulfill their academic potential. The center is staffed
by professional and peer tutors who support students in subjects
as diverse as math, writing, reading, literature, psychology,
biology, computers, English as a Second Language, American Sign
Language, and more. All tutoring is free to MWCC students. Writing
and math tutoring is available on a drop-in basis. Tutoring in
other subjects is arranged by appointment. We also offer tutoring
by appointment at the Leominster
Campus.
How we do it
We best serve students by encouraging
their independence. We make it clear to students what we can and
cannot do for them: we can help them work through a math problem,
but not solve it for them; we can help them brainstorm a topic,
but not write the paper for them. Our goal is to help students refine
the tools they need to succeed on their own.
Who is eligible for tutoring?
All MWCC studentsday and eveningmay
participate in our tutoring program. We serve a wide range of students
from those who get all As to those having difficulty passing
a course.
