Software

1. Dragon NaturallySpeaking- http://www.nuance.com/
Dragon Dictate provides voice navigation and discrete dictation within virtually any Windows application. (Discrete speech requires the user to pause briefly between words). This program may require several hours of training depending on the user's voice and speech pattern. Dragon NaturallySpeaking provides continuous speech recognition. Words spoken in a continuous natural cadence are converted to text in Dragon's word processing environment.

DBT program is a window based software program that converts electronic text to braille which can then be "embossed" onto braille paper.

3. Inspiration- http://www.inspiration.com
Inspiration is the essential tool which students rely on to plan, research and complete projects successfully. With the integrated Diagram and Outline Views, they create graphic organizers and expand topics into writing. This powerful combination encourages learning in multiple modes. As a result, students gain and retain a better understanding of concepts and demonstrate knowledge, improving their performance across the curriculum.

4. JAWS for windows- http://www.freedomscientific.com
JAWS for windows is a screen reading application and provides vision independent access to most computer software application for users who are blind or have severe vision impairments.

5. Kurzweil3000- http://www.kurzweiledu.com/
Kurzweil 3000 is an optical character recognition software tool, which allows the user to scan printed material and have it read back to them, using synthesized speech. The text is highlighted as it is read to allow both visual and auditory feedback. This tool is intended to assist students with a variety of learning disabilities. It can also be used to read from the web and has several built-in study skills features including highlighting and a built-in dictionary. A text editor also allows typed text to be read back to you and includes spell checking and word prediction

6. ZoomText- http://www.aisquard.com
ZoomText Xtra is a magnification screen reading software program which is designed specifically to meet the needs of the visually impaired.
