May, 2008
Dear Friends:
It is with tremendous hope that we reach out to our colleagues in the community. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has issued an exciting challenge. The state will match $200,000 to each school within the community college system that raises a minimum of $400,000 in permanently endowed funds by the end of this fiscal year–June 30, 2008.
Is this a challenge? Yes. Is it possible? With a community full of active, civic-minded, and giving people, yes it is. Please help us reach our goal by contributing to the college’s endowment fund.
Our goal at Mount Wachusett Community College is to provide quality and affordable education to our students. All funds raised through this endowment incentive match program would be permanently restricted earnings used for scholarships and educational expenses. We want our students to have the financial resources necessary to complete their programs of study. Most students would be able to complete an associate degree program in two to three years, but financial restraints often contribute to students taking longer or even dropping out.
Our students are the future of this region; they live and work in the area, purchase goods and services from local businesses, and are likely to remain in North Central Massachusetts well into the future. Please help our students stay in school by filling out the contribution form and sending your tax deductible donation today to insure the state match.
Sincerely,
