What is the GED?
The Tests of General Education Development (GED Tests) are developed by the American Council on Education to enable a person who has not graduated from high school to complete the requirements for a diploma.
How old do you have to be to take classes?
All students must be at least 16 years old in order to enter classes.
How long will it take to earn a GED?
There is no set time for earning your GED. Each student works at their own pace and will be encouraged to take the GED test when they are ready.
What is the cost for adult education classes?
There is no cost for classes. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Mount Wachusett Community College, Employment Links and the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation work together to provide funding for free instruction.
What days and times are classes held?
The school year begins in September and ends in June. Classes follow the same vacation schedule as the Massachusetts public schools. Each location, however, has its own schedule. Please go to the “location” link on the main menu for individual class days and times.
How do you register for classes?
Class registration is ongoing. Students are encouraged to contact the site location they are interested in attending and set up an appointment to enter the program. If classes are full then you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted as soon as an opening is available.
Do you receive grades?
Formal letter grades are not given to students. Students do receive feedback from their teacher on a regular basis.
